OLLI at Cal Poly Discontinued
It is with heartfelt regret that we announce that the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at Cal Poly has been permanently discontinued. There will not be any future classes.
As you know, both OLLI and Cal Poly have been under extreme financial stress. OLLI has been operating in the “red” for some time and with the severe cuts in the State budget to Cal Poly, it is simply not possible to support a deficit.
Please know that this decision was not an easy one to make, it was made after several meetings of a specially convened planning group, meetings of the Board of Members, conversations with the President and Provost of Cal Poly, and conversations between the Osher Foundation and Cal Poly.
The entire endowment that Cal Poly originally received from the Osher Foundation is being returned.
Fortunately, there are many other education opportunities throughout the community for you to take advantage of for your lifelong learning experiences. We will miss you and wish you all good health and happiness in your continued search for lifelong learning.

We understand the continued interest in lifelong learning are important and hope that a creative answer to wanting to gather and learn can take place over time. We suggest that organizers look for alternative venues for offering lifelong learning opportunities. However, these programs will not be associated with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), and therefore should not be stated or implied that they are an OLLI event or associated with OLLI.
